Marjorie Taylor Greene Says, “Trump Calling Me Traitor Puts My Life at Risk”

Marjorie Taylor Greene took to cable news on Sunday to address her ongoing war of words with President Donald Trump on social media. “He called me a traitor, and that is so extremely wrong”, she told CNN’s Dana Bash. “And those are the types of words that can radicalize people against me and put my life in danger.” The president had used the term in a Truth Social post on Saturday, declaring that “Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Green (sic) is a disgrace to our GREAT REPUBLICAN PARTY!”

Asked what the source of their feud was, The Republican Georgia Rep. said that “unfortunately, it has all come down to the Epstein files,” referring to the government’s classified information on the international sex criminal, who was known to rub elbows with some of the most powerful figures in politics and business, including former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, and private equity billionaire Leon Black. Donald Trump was also known to be an acquaintance of Epstein, and recently-released emails appeared to indicate that the two were still in touch at least through 2015, even though the president insists that he cut off all contact in the early 2000s. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told PBS: “The Democrats selectively leaked emails to the liberal media to create a fake narrative to smear President Trump.”

Following the end of the government shutdown last week, lawmakers in the House secured enough signatures for a discharge petition to force a floor vote on releasing the Epstein files. Greene was one of a handful of House Republicans who signed the petition, along with Reps. Thomas Massie (Kentucky), Nancy Mace (South Carolina), and Lauren Boebert (Colorado).
