South Africa activist gets radio station to take down covid ads under their misinformation policy

This large healthcare system made a major media buy of ads, it was the solemn voice saying that 90% of the patients in their hospitals are unvaxx'd and on average the patients they're treating are younger and sicker.

So I used the state department of health data as well as the hospital's own data it publishes and used that data against them.

It turns out that 62% of the inpatients are unvax'd, not 90%

The number of inpatients was falling and when you compared inpatients to positive tests, there are about half as many inpatients today per 1000 positive test than there was a year ago.

The inpatients are not getting younger. The average age of a patient went up by 2 years over the last year. The average death age is still 81 years old and that has not changed in a year.

I compiled all this data into some fun charts, graphs, and other material. I was able to speak the radio station manager and then had a follow up call with the radio station's ethics and legal team. I presented them all the data and said I don't have a problem with a hospital running ads, but when the ads are clearly false and contradicted by the data the hospital is publishing and reporting that's a problem and it's spreading misinformation.

About a week later the ethics/legal guy calls me back, he tells me he confirmed all my information and spoke with the hospital about the wide discrepancy from what they report to the state and their ad claims. He told the hospital they would have to recut the ad with the accurate information as the station could no longer run an ad that runs afoul of the station's misinformation policy. The hospital declined to recut the ad saying that 62% of patients, not 90%, are unvaxx'd.

The ads are no longer playing, not just on that station but other stations owned by the same media company.

I'm not sure why a hospital would make such blatant lies but it certainly does build mistrust in the community. The core of a conspiracy or con are the easily debunked lies they liars are telling.

Remember, we can take out these liars.

Keep the pressure on, never let up.

Make them live up to their own rules.

Edit: For those asking which health system this was and what radio station - I am not going to unleash a pack a jackals on those two orgs. That's a surefire way to watch this subreddit get shut down because some people can't help but act like jackasses all the time.
