US built underground 'city' for rich to survive doomsday, claims ex-official

A former US official has claimed that the government secretly funnelled $21 trillion in taxpayer money to build an underground "city" for the ultra-wealthy and top officials to survive a "near-extinction event".

Catherine Austin Fitts, who served as assistant secretary of Housing and Urban Development under President George HW Bush, made the startling allegation on former Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s podcast.

She didn’t offer evidence, but cited a 2017 study by Michigan State University economist Mark Skidmore that flagged major "unauthorised spending" across the Departments of Defense and Housing and Urban Development from 1998 to 2015.
