Yemen Civilians Casualties Reach 500 in Trump Bombing Campaign
The number of civilian casualties¹ in US Operation Rough Rider more than doubled in seven days from 16-22 April. At least 95 civilians were killed and 192 injured in the week.
A strike² on a fuel storage facility at Ras Isa Port on 18 April was one of the worst strikes for civilians on record. A strike on Farwah market in the capital on 20 April killed at least 12 civilians, including 2 children and injured 30 civilians, bringing the total number of civilian casualties to 500 since president Trump launched a new US bombing campaign in Yemen on 15 March.
230 civilian casualties were recorded in the Ras Isa bombing with at least 80 civilians killed and 150 injured in the strike in the early hours of 18 April. In a decade of monitoring by Yemen Data Project only three air raids have been recorded as causing more civilian harm, all of which were during the seven-year-long Saudi-led air war.
