Humans could soon be able to breed in space, a new study has shown.

As thoughts turn to whether or not humans could one day populate other planets after leaving our own, the question inevitably turns to how humans could raise a child in space. And a new study involving growing a mouse embryo on the International Space Station has potentially answered the question once and for all.

Led by the University of Yamanashi and National Research Institute Riken, the study was the “the world's first experiment that cultured early-stage mammalian embryos under complete microgravity of ISS”. Having successfully grown the embryo, it is now though that a human embryo would be able to survive in space.
